Our fertility story started when I was about 29 years old. We had gone through two years of trying to start our own family with no luck, and at that point we decided that, we admitted there was a problem. So we had the tests done, and it came back as male factor infertility. At that point, I was completely devastated. I'm a teacher. I work with kids, and the thought of never having a family of my own was heartbreaking, and that's when we decided to start seeking the help of specialists. We had tried a couple of different doctors that of which I was left feeling hopeless and in tears. And I had actually a friend refer me to the Arizona Associates for Reproductive Health. That first meeting, when I met with the doctor was the first time that I actually felt hope that we might actually have a family someday. He explained everything to us. For the first time someone sat down with us and explained what male factor infertility was and specifically in regards to our case. He took into consideration more than just the medical concerns that we had. He took into consideration our financial concerns. He took into consideration my emotional status at that time. He laid everything out for us, and he was so patient. He was so kind, understanding, and very honest about everything. I think once we sat down and had time to think about everything that's when we decided to go, our best bet was going through IVF. We went through in vitro. It was a complete emotional roller coaster. I'm so grateful every day for the staff at the Arizona Associates for Reproductive Health for the gifts that they've given us. Without the staff I don't think I could have gotten through that emotional journey. I had a nurse in particular, who went, I literally considered her an angel. She went above and beyond the call of duty. She gave us her personal cell phone number. I even called her on Thanksgiving Day, and she responded to me in the middle of Thanksgiving dinner with her family to make sure all my questions were answered.
